So we now have less than a month and a long way to go!!! Getting nervous yet? Nah, we can handle it. We have now demolished the float and have our first work day tomorrow morning. On the agenda is to start putting the structure back together and begin painting and making parts and pieces that will eventually be part of the royal carriage.
As they say, many hands make light the work…We absolutely appreciate those krewe members that come out and help. We hope to see you there!!!
The 2010-11 season has begun! It’s taken us a while to recover from last season, but we are back!

So we made it through this mardi gras season! Three cheers for the design krewe!
I thought we’d take a moment and try to provide a condensed version of the major events that have happened and major mile stones crossed along the way. Why dont we start at the beginning?
The Krewe of Janus invited us to design and build a mardi gras float for the 2010 parade. This is our second float. Marla and I started brainstorming in August and out of those brainstorms this very schematic model developed.

once we had the basic conceptual framework in place (pandora flying out of new orleans, bringing with her the sounds of Mardi Gras) we had to find an existing float to adapt. The old train called “barney” seemed like our best bet.
so we began tearing it apart and getting it ready.

going to have to do a little catch-up on the blog. The last few days have all been a blur. So we will start with the night before the parade. With the help of my students and a few dear friends, we were making huge strides in getting pandora finished. Everything worked like a swiss clock. Here are a few photos.
